The event was easy to understand and relevant to my needs. I wanted to learn something new, and you always learn something when you go to these events. The event centred around knowing your numbers so I'm trying to make more effort to get my top line numbers every month.

I liked the obvious knowledge and expertise of the speakers and how they put the information across in ways that made it interesting. From the point of view of The Marketing Centre we like the initiative that Burgis & Bullock have developed in trying to get local business people together, but it's a little bit difficult for us as we have an independent transparency policy which makes it a little difficult for us to get more involved than we are. I also have other business interests outside The Marketing Centre so I thought it would be interesting to come along and explore that side of it. I learnt some good information from the speakers. I think the talk on the numbers was particularly well done. It showed us that what the numbers might initially seem to be demonstrating, if you dig a bit deeper and know what to look for, might lead you to different conclusion. The session from Brian Jerome on the funding highlighted some alternatives that it's potentially useful to be aware of for my clients. It was all done in an engaged way which I think was helpful. I made a few useful connections as well. It's one of the reasons to attend these sorts of events. I don't think at the moment I can get more formally involved at The Marketing Centre, but I might consider getting more involved with some of my other businesses. I'll certainly be giving that more thought over the next few months. There's a particular project I'm working on at the moment that I might talk to Burgis & Bullock about and see their thoughts on it, so that's something I'm interested in taking forward.

It didn't assume I knew everything and gave me insight, and the ability, to look at my business in a different way, which was refreshing. I didn't really know what I was going to get although I knew it would be something. It's nice to get exposure with other like minded individuals. It's good to network as you never know when there might be crossover. As a business owner it's always good to get exposure. We're new to Burgis & Bullock so it was good to see their office and see how they do things, to reinforce the decision I've made; It's always a daunting decision moving accountants but I feel reassured in that decision. I think the main thing I took away from the event was the ability to look at the figures that we have as a company in a different way. I've always looked at them in method A if you like and they've shown me methods B and C, which spins it on it's head to show it in a new way. I also liked the little mantra; Turnover is vanity, profit is sanity and cash is reality. It's nice to have these little things and the words to live by.

The Finance Seminar delivered by Burgis & Bullock’s Business Mastermind Group was very relaxed and informal, but very informative and professional. It was held in lovely offices, in a nice location and the staff at the office were all very welcoming, which is really reassuring when you don’t know anyone. The information presented by all the speakers at the Seminar was excellent! I learnt quite a lot about accounting , and I had a few questions which were answered during the Seminar which was great. The added bonus what that I met a few other people, (business owners), in the room who I didn't know previously and I now have a new potential client which is great.

I liked the atmosphere in which the event was set, and the opportunity to network both before and after the event. There was some very good quality information relayed during the presentations, and all the speakers conveyed that very well. I attended because I was looking to join the Mastermind Group and to network with some of the people I'd recently met. I took away the ratios that Sean presented. He very clearly explained the key ratios that I should be looking at in my business.

I thought the event I attended on 6th June was really good; I really enjoyed it. I'll almost certainly attend the next one. I had a completely and utterly open mind. The only ulterior motive I had was to meet somebody from Burgis & Bullock as another business colleague had suggested I might like to do business with them in time. I liked the topic of conversation and the presentations, I liked the fact that I got a copy of the presentation afterwards, and I liked meeting like minded people.

I liked the uniqueness of the presentations. I found the one with the cartoon, Tickling Trout, very interesting as I hadn't seen that before. You go to a lot of these events and it's all the same sorts of things so it was nice to see something a bit different. The closeness of the venue to us was appealing and I think the topic as well was relevant. I think the marketing approaches were thought provoking. I also went away with information on the potential use of Google and also contacts as well i.e. other people in the room.

The venue where the Business Mastermind Group was held was great. It was a lovely long winding road coming up to it through the countryside, and it was a lovely spring day, so the venue itself helped to set the mood for the meeting. There was a good mixture of solid business advice along with the opportunity to network and meet others. The main thing I took away from the Business Mastermind Group was the importance of marketing in your business. Marketing is like a chain, and there are many links in that chain, to gain & retain paying clients, and every link is important. I think is what they were really pointing out. Lead generation is futile unless/until you can travel the whole journey seamlessly. I attended the Business Mastermind Group to extend my network and my knowledge.

It was really good that there were a few presenters at the Business Mastermind Group that they all had a good story to tell, delivering a really good presentation, that was relevant. The relevance being the key point there. I took a few things from the Business Mastermind Group. I took away the importance of storytelling. I thought that was very interesting. Also the feedback presentation from Enquir3. I also learned some key points about how Google obtain the relevant data and what they do with it, and how that's going to impact the future especially for business. I was invited to the event by someone who visited our office and told me about the event, the actual content looked very interesting. The venue was local which was helpful

Re the Covid-19 situation, Dale, thank you very much; the resources that you have been sending through are very helpful and we have been sharing them with our ConsultingRoom members. Sue has also been fantastic, as always! …. And I know that I only need to email or pick the phone up for support from both of you, which is very welcome!
I don't normally attend events like that but Sean Farnell invited me so I went on his recommendation, I did learn a couple of things which was a pleasant surprise for me. I got a couple of ideas and probably a bit more open mindedness regarding attending This kind of event.

It was engaging all the way through. I was just wanting to understand the whole process and the benefits of BMG. It gave me a very clear picture of what those benefits would be. Very well run event.
What stood out was the quality and level of individual who were at the event. I've been to a lot of networking events where you have a lot of people who are sales people from venues, or some kind of franchise, and they're all selling basically; the thing about the Burgis & Bullock Business Mastermind Group event I went to is that the people who were there all had some sort of business level responsibility so we could have that owner to owner conversation and share stories. I've only been a business owner for 3-4 months and there were a lot of people there with experience, at director level, with a lot of responsibility. It was the strategic content; you sit down and have a coffee and biscuit, which is great, and everybody talks. I felt I was in the right sort of room in that instance, it had the right level of formality for me. There are a lot of networking events where it's very forced and feels like some sort of pyramid scheme but the Burgis & Bullock Business Mastermind Group event wasn’t like that; the content was very relevant to business owners. Everyone introduced themselves throughout the room which was good. It was the right sort of people and the right level of formality. I liked the people who were on that level having a chat. I was contacted by somebody from Enquir3 who mentioned that Sean Farnell was keen to speak to us about digital development and api (?) with the Enquir3 software and that it might be worth looking at this Virtual Finance Director, and I’m always interested in something that involves a digital transformation for me or my clients, and I was interested to see what businesses were there. cont on separate doc sent by email.
We felt the first part was inspiring in terms of how to manage your time and your business. It was good to network as well; the people there were friendly and knowledgeable. The idea of it was for us to get more of an insight on things that would help to manage the business and the employees. The Director is such a busy person that it sometimes falls onto the back burner, and I think we wanted to see how to make that a priority and how to manage your time. We were really impressed by Sean and what he does, and we've planned to work with him going forward, with what he can offer us in terms of accounting knowledge. We gained a knowledge of how to priorities certain things and how to work, and how to prioritise the people in the company and work together so as not to get over stressed. There was a lot of audience participation; people really did get involved.
Job Title:PA to Dierctor

It wasn't a normal formatted networking meeting where people just pass cards like confetti backwards and forwards and ask to be referred to this company or that company. It was much more of a supported, strategic type, mastermind group. I also liked how passionate the members were about the group, and the pastries were lovely. I was hoping to get a meeting with Sean from Burgis & Bullock. The seven yes questions were what I took away, although I can't recall what they titled that section. It was a great event and I'd give it 10/10. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sector:Call Handling and Virtual Office
Company:Call Handling Solutions
I liked the power of the Virtual Finance Director; I think it's very helpful to businesses to be able to identify first where they can improve their business as it stands at the moment, and it gives them something to work from in terms of projecting forward. I was invited by Sean Farnell who I've worked with previously, and also by Steve Darnell. We operate in the funding market so Steve had asked me to go along with a view to becoming a funding partner. I think the networking side of things looks very, very positive.
What stood out about the event for me was the profile of the businesses that were in the room. These were small business but they were not micro businesses; they were substantial contributors to their regional economy. I was looking to see how other people would respond to the proposition and see if there was a collective agreement that this was a good concept. The answer was yes from the feedback I saw on the day, the involvement and engagement by participants was strong and I think it was received well by those that attended. I think it's suitable for businesses that are perhaps owner operated businesses that are large, and either want to grow further or improve their profitability through better practice.
I liked the frankness of the delivery; it was quite straightforward and easy to understand. I liked the way Steve Darnell delivered his element of it, and Sean Farnell too. The two of them work together well as they complemented each other in what they were doing and how they dealt it. I'd had a conversation with Sean when we were looking at my books and I'd said I need some business advice on developing the business as a whole; growth etc. Sean mentioned that he'd been looking at not only the numbers from the accounts point of view, but that he was moving into business management and mentioned the seminar. I can see that there's a business coaching element to it and I can see the benefits of that, and the fact that you are using other people to bounce your ideas off; using them as non-executives if you like.

The event was extremely well organised, very professional, and the objectives were very clear. The presentations were excellent, and there was great interaction with those present. I wanted to understand more about how accountants are facing the challenge of making tax digital, and using Virtual Finance Director to develop their business advisory services. I took away a much better understanding of how Virtual Finance Director will help accountants to provide forward looking guidance and strategies to help their clients grow. David Mack's session on asking the right questions was very useful. This was also a great opportunity to get to network with like minded business owners, all seeking to grow their businesses.
